Trampolining has become a popular sport and form of exercise in recent years. Research published by NASA scientists has found bouncing on a trampoline to be a more efficient form of exercise than running or cycling.
History
Trampolining became popular across the world soon after the Second World War. George Nissen, a former gymnast and avid inventor, is credited to inventing equipment similar to that still used today back in the 1930s. As well as being a popular recreational sport, trampolining has been an Olympic sport since the Sydney Games in 2000.
Benefits
Trampoline exercise is an instance but low-impact aerobic workout suitable for both children and adults. The cardiovascular benefits have been found to be 68 percent for efficient than traditional forms of aerobic exercise. Regular bouncing on a trampoline has many other holistic benefits, including increasing coordination and balance, stress relief, fat burning and toning muscles.
Burning Calories
Your metabolic rate is your body's efficiency at using energy or burning calories. Regular exercise helps to boost your metabolic rate and burn off calories at a faster pace. However, diet, weight and medical conditions can affect the exact number of calories burned during any form of exercise.
Calories Burned Trampolining
An adult weighing 150 lbs. taking part in an hour of trampolining can burn around 250 calories. A heavier participant will have burned more during this time; for example, a 200-lb. man may burn up to 333 calories. This is because the actual amount of calories burned during trampoline exercise can vary from person to person, depending on body type.
