The LA Weight Loss Diet is a center-based weight loss program that also offers options for home delivery. When you enroll in the program, you are instructed to replace certain meals and follow a low-fat diet for the rest of your meals. You can also access online counseling and use the company's forums to communicate with other dieters on the plan.

Meal Replacements

On the diet, you must consume two of the LA Lite Bars each day. These can be used as snacks to stave off hunger until your next meal. Flavors include chocolate, lemon, honey, caramel, chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate peanut butter. To jumpstart your weight loss, KickStart Juice can be used for two days. You are to drink the juice throughout the day and then eat one sensible meal.

Protein

You do need to have at least two servings per day of a protein source when following the LA Weight Loss Diet. You are allowed 4 oz. servings of meats higher in fat while leaner choices can be consumed in 6 oz. servings. Higher-fat meats include pork, steak, ground beef and veal. Lower fat protein sources include chicken breast, turkey breast, halibut, striped bass, flounder and shrimp. Two eggs can be used in place of any meat choice.

Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables will be the staples of most of your meals that are not made up of meal replacements. You are told to eat three servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit each day on the diet plan. Some examples of fruit servings include a small banana, medium apple, one cup of raspberries, 12 cherries, one cup of grapefruit and a slice of watermelon. For vegetables, you can eat two pieces of celery, one small tomato, one cup of broccoli, one cup of asparagus and a large green pepper.

Starches

Starches need to be consumed in moderation while you are following the LA Weight Loss Diet. You are allowed two servings daily and some of your selections are one slice of low fat bread, a cup of brown rice, a cup of whole grain cereal and one packet of instant oatmeal.

Fats

Fat are also to be controlled on the LA Weight Loss Diet. Low-fat dressings, low-fat mayonnaise and low-fat margarine are some acceptable options for your two servings each day.
