When exposed to certain strains of the human papillomavirus, it may result in a sexually transmitted disease (STD) known as genital warts. Notorious for their highly contagious nature, HPV needs only skin-to-skin genital contact to cause an infection. This infection may take years to show up as actual warts, so you may never know you're carrying the virus until much later. If you develop genital warts, there are things you can do to "cure" an infection.
Step 1
Lower your risk of exposure. The most natural way of "curing" genital warts is to prevent an infection. Avoiding sexual contact with an infected partner is by far the most effective means of prevention.
Step 2
Use a condom. Beside abstinence, wearing a condom is the next best way of preventing genital warts before they can start. Any time you have sex, use a condom, even if you're already using another form of protection.
Step 3
Observe your infection. Barring preventative measures, you can naturally treat a genital wart infection by doing nothing at all. Around 30 percent of cases go away on their own, according to the Mayo Clinic, so you may want to observe the outbreak before applying any sort of cream on the site of exposure.
Step 4
Apply vinegar to the outbreak site. While evidence is mixed on whether or not vinegar can effectively treat genital warts, some people strongly stand behind this home remedy. Simply apply apple cider vinegar each day directly onto your genital warts to treat the infection. You should know in a matter of days if this treatment is working.
Step 5
Change your diet. Another way in which you can better fight off an infection (and increase the efficacy of standard treatments) is by boosting your body's immune response through your diet. Increase your intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains while eliminating saturated fats, refined sugars, alcohol and caffeine.
Step 6
Consult your doctor. Since HPV itself has no true cure, you should talk to your physician about your treatment options, especially if your warts are causing you a great deal of discomfort.
