Plantar warts grow on the sole of the foot, and often look and feel like a callus. Like other warts, they are caused by an otherwise harmless virus that causes the the top layer of your skin to thicken. According to MayoClinic.com, plantar warts don't always require treatment. However, they sometimes spread or become painful. There are several medical treatments available to remove plantar warts, but you can also remove them at home using duct tape, a method that was clinically proven to work more reliably than cryotherapy.

Step 1

Cut off a piece of duct tape long enough to cover the plantar wart, or warts, completely.

Step 2

Wear the duct tape for six days. If it rubs off, replace it with a piece of tape that wraps around the foot.

Step 3

Remove the duct tape. Peel the tape back slowly, as pulling fast can tear skin.

Step 4

Soak your foot in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 5

Remove your foot from the bath. Gently scrape the wart away using a pumice stone.

Step 6

Repeat the entire process until you remove the duct tape to find no remaining warts.

Things You'll Need

  • Duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Bathtub or foot basin
  • Pumice stone
