Cellulite can impact anyone and is usually a result of genetics, a lack of physical activity or a poor diet. While you can't change your parents, you can change what you put into your body. Changing to a raw food diet can help you reach a healthier weight while also reducing your cellulite. Keep in mind that a diet coupled with exercise is the most beneficial way to improve your body composition.

Identification

While cellulite can appear anywhere on your body, it most commonly occurs in the arms, stomach, legs and butt. According to the American Council on Exercise, cellulite occurs when fat cells press against the connective tissue beneath the skin. These two opposing forces create a dimpled or bumpy look on your skin. Simply put, cellulite is nothing more than body fat.

Significance

Being conscious of your cellulite and your weight can help you keep your health in check. Being overweight or having excessive body fat can lead to chronic health concerns. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, being overweight can increase your risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cancer, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, reproductive problems and gallstones.

Features

The raw food diet is based on living, raw and organic foods. These foods are raised naturally without preservatives, pesticides or other chemicals. The foods are also not cooked at high temperatures, which can kill the living enzymes in many foods. The majority of raw foodists eat vegetables, nuts, sprouts, fruits and seeds. The foods can be blended, juiced or eaten whole. According to the Best of Raw Food website, you need to eat at least 75 percent raw foods to be a raw foodist.

Benefits

The raw food diet provides you with food that is directly from nature without any processing or additives. Eating this diet can improve your physical and emotional health as well as help you reduce your cellulite through weight loss. According to the Living and Raw Foods website, a raw diet can give you more energy, detoxifies your body, improves your immune system and can help you achieve a healthy weight. The Best of Raw Food says this diet can also help improve your sleep, give you more beautiful skin and improves your fertility.

Considerations

Eating a raw food diet can enhance your health but is not a cure for cellulite. As you lose weight on the raw food diet, you might find that you still have dimpled skin. Supplementing your diet with aerobic and resistance exercise can help you further reduce your cellulite. Daily aerobic exercise, such as running, cycling and swimming can help burn calories and remove excess body fat. Resistance training, such as calisthenics or weight lifting, can help build muscle tissue, remove cellulite and prevent new cellulite from forming.
