The Dermal Tone Facial Exerciser is an electrical stimulation product designed to provide low-level electrical shocks to facial muscles, stimulating them into contraction. The contractions theoretically lead to more facial muscle toning and a younger appearance without surgery. The product is available via online resalers after the company was closed by the Food and Drug Administration in 2006 for failure to obtain proper clearances. Because the Dermal Tone Facial Exerciser provides an electrical stimulation, consult a doctor prior to using it.

Step 1

Plug the Dermal Tone machine in using the removable power cord, or insert a 9-volt battery into the back of the unit.

Step 2

Rub a water-based lotion on your skin to create the right environment for electrical conduction.

Step 3

Hold the unit in your hand so that with the three round contact points face you. The cord or battery section should be facing away from you to make skin contact easy.

Step 4

Place the units contact point on the skin over the muscles you want to stimulate. For example, with the eyes, there are two points, one over the eye brow and one along the side at the temple. When the Dermal Tone is in the right spot, the muscle will visible contract, moving the eye brow up or causing the eye to wink.

Step 5

Hold the unit in one area for 10 seconds, than move on the to the next muscle group.
