It's uncomfortable, and you want it gone - now! There are several things that can cause itchy pink skin, including a change in seasons, the climate, your diet or an illness. Whatever its cause, though, there are many things you can do to try to combat your itchy pink skin.

Possible Causes

A change in seasons or climate can cause itchy pink skin. When the weather gets colder, it is harder for your skin to maintain moisture, which leads to dry skin. A new soap or fabric also could be irritating your skin. Or you could have a skin condition such as eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis, according to the Mayo Clinic website.

Identification

If the irritation is light and all over your body, its probably is the result of an outside source and might be easy to remedy. If it is showing up in patches, it might be a skin disorder and need more-intense therapy.

Lifestyle Changes

For all-over irritation, try switching to a gentle laundry detergent for sensitive skin, choosing cotton clothes and sheets, and using a gentle moisturizing soap. You might get immediate relieve from an oatmeal bath solution. If your home seems dry, use a humidifier to add moisture to the air, according to the Family Doctor website.

Treating a Skin Condition

If those changes don't work and if you have localized itchy areas, try an over-the-counter cortisone cream for moisturizing and itch relief. Scratching only makes the condition worse, so try to keep your hands away from these areas. If you scratch in your sleep, wear cotton gloves to bed.

See a Doctor

You should see a doctor if your itchy pink skin lasts more than two weeks, according to the Mayo Clinic website.
