Everlast Hand Wrap Instructions

Everlast is a band name for cloth strips that brace the wrists and thumbs and protect the tendons in your hands. The strips are 120 or 180 inches long and have a loop on one end and Velcro on the other. Everlast Mexican style hand wraps have elasticity that allows them to conform to the shape of your hand. People with smaller hands should use the shorter wraps and those with medium to large hands should use 180-inch wraps. Hand wraps are made by a variety of manufacturers, and the instructions for wrapping apply to all brands.

Step 1

Hold your hand with your palm facing down and your fingers spread apart. Place the loop around your thumb and drape the wrap around the back of your hand. The wrap should be rolled into a cylinder, but it is alright if it unravels.

Step 2

Wind the wrap four times around your wrist. Bring the wrap up between your thumb and index finger, and wrap it three times around your hand and the first set of knuckles.

Step 3

Weave the wrap once between your index and ring fingers. Wind the wrap once around your wrist. Weave the wrap between your ring and middle fingers. Wind the wrap once around your wrist. Weave the wrap between your third and pinkie fingers. Wind the wrap once around your wrist.

Step 4

Bring the wrap between your thumb and index finger and wrap your knuckles up to four times.

Step 5

Weave the wrap under your thumb and wrap your wrist up to four times. Wind the wrap approximately 2 inches past your wrist joint and secure the wrap with the Velcro.

Tips and Warnings

  • Hang your wraps to dry after each use before rolling them up for storage. Roll them with the Velcro side in, and the loop on the outside. Wash the wraps in the washing machine. Place them in a mesh bag or inside a pair of pantyhose to prevent them tangling in the washing machine. Do not wrap your hands too tightly. If your fingers become numb or discolored, loosen and rewrap.
