Protein bars can serve as meal replacement snacks or as pre-/post-workout supplements. The benefit of protein is to help aid in weight loss and increase lean muscle by repairing and rebuilding tissue in the body that has been broken down from strenuous exercise or physical activity. Protein bars are also convenient alternatives to protein shakes and are made with different ingredients that offer various benefits.

Furthermore, there are certain brands that concentrate more on the protein content of the bar and leave out the addition of synthetic or naturally occurring vitamins.

Detour

Detour's original protein bars, which include chocolate caramel and caramel peanut, are packed with 15 or 30 g of whey protein, depending on the size, and do not contain vitamins. Each bar is without trans fats and high-fructose corn syrup. In addition to Detour's signature candy bar taste, the protein bars are low in sugar, with 11 to 12 g, and contain 4 grams of fiber. You can purchase the caramel peanut and chocolate caramel flavors in a 15-pack for $26 to $32.

PureFit

With no vitamins, PureFit nutrition bars are kosher-certified and vegan-approved bars that are free of dairy, gluten, artificial ingredients and wheat. PureFit bars are made with 18 g of soy protein isolate and come in five different flavors: granola crunch, peanut butter crunch, chocolate brownie, almond crunch and berry almond crunch. In addition, PureFit bars are 100 percent all-natural, have a low glycemic index and do not contain artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohol or cholesterol. PureFit nutrition bars are available in a 15-count box for around $35.

KRONOBAR

The choco-coffee-flavored, vitamin-free KRONOBAR is made with 10 g of whey protein concentrate and serves as the preferred option for your post-workout meal 30 minutes after exercising. Choco-coffee KRONOBAR contains 190 calories and is made with 100-percent all-natural ingredients. Additionally, the protein KRONOBAR is certified nut-free and peanut-free, is without preservatives and added sugar and does not contain gluten. A box of 12 bars can be purchased for around $29.
