Viagra, also known as sildenafil, is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction (sexual impotence) in men.

Features

Viagra blocks phosphodiesterase-5 (a chemical found in the penis) and allows more blood to flow to the penis resulting in an erection, according to WebMD.

Side Effects

Viagra's common side effects include such symptoms as headache, trouble breathing, muscle pain and diarrhea, according to the Mayo Clinic. Although rare, clumsiness, difficulty swallowing and abnormal dreams can result. More side effects are possible than those listed here. Call your doctor if these or any new side effects develop.
