Orville Redenbacher formed the world's largest microwave popcorn company largely by creating his own hybrids of popcorn. Today, the company manufactures twenty-five primary popcorn varieties including; Family Favorites, Sweet and Savory, SmartPop and Natural.

Calories

Plain air-popped popcorn contains very little calories. High calorie versions include additional ingredients such as butter, oil, and sugar. Total calories for Orville Redenbacher popcorn products range from 100 to 210 calories per 2 tbsp. of unpopped popcorn kernels or about 6 to 8 cups of popped popcorn.

Sodium

Orville Redenbacher's popcorn flavors contain significant amounts of salt. A 6-cup serving of Orville Redenbacher's popcorn provides about 1/3 of that amount, or 350 mg to 500 mg per serving. The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the Institute of Medicine, as well as the American Heart Association recommend that healthy adults limit sodium intake to no more than 1,500 to 2,300 mg per day.

Fiber

Each 6-cup serving of Orville Redenbacher's popcorn provides about 2 to 3 g of fiber, or about 10 percent of your daily needs. Fiber helps prevent and treat constipation and may also help lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
