Lavender Oil for Skin Tags

Skin tags are tiny lumps of skin that are attached to the body by a thin thread. They are painless and harmless though some people are self-conscious of them and prefer them to be removed. You can have them removed by means of a simple surgical procedure or you can use lavender oil to help remove them. You should consult your doctor before using lavender oil.

Significance

Skin tags are referred to clinically as cutaneous papilloma or fibroma pendulum. According to Medical News Today website, they appear as small pieces of skin which hang from the body on a short stalk. Skin tags can appear anywhere on the body, but are most common on the armpits, eyelids, groin, under the breasts, neck, and upper chest.

Size

Skin tags may have either a smooth, or an irregular surface. They may be the same color as your skin or have a slightly darker pigmentation. They are usually the size of a pinhead but may reach up to one to five centimeters.

Features

Skin tags are not cancerous. They generally cause no symptoms. According to Medical News Today, they consist of a very small core of ducts, nerve cells and fibers covered by an epidermal layer. If skin tags become large, they may burst.

Considerations

Medical News Today explains that people who are overweight, women who are pregnant and people suffering with diabetes tend to be more prone to skin tags. You may have skin tags and never even notice them. Alternatively, they may become irritated by friction from clothes or jewelry

Prevention/Solution

There are a number of natural remedies that can help with the removal of skin tags. There are lotions, which can be applied several times each day and will gradually make the skin tag fall off, painlessly.
