Miniature golf is an ideal activity that the whole family can really enjoy together. It's fun, affordable and always good for a few laughs. There are several mini golf courses to choose from in different cities in Maryland. And some of these courses can challenge even the most experienced golfer.
Family Fun
Mini golf is a fun activity that every member of the family can participate in. Many of the courses are geared towards families such as the Frontier Adventure Course at Smiley's Fun Zone. Prizes are awarded if you can guess the mystery golf hole, and there's other fun attractions to enjoy after your round of golf such as go carts, bumper boats, arcades, laser tag and a batting cage.
Challenging Courses
Mini golf in Maryland is not all about the kids. Some of the courses have made an effort to challenge even the most avid golfers with hazards such as sand and water. Maui Golf in Ocean City is considered one of the most challenging in the city and its tenth hole is rated at a par 4. The Rocky Gorge 4 Season Fairway in Laurel is home to the world's longest mini golf hole. Get a hole in one on it, and you'll definitely earn bragging rights.
More than Mini Golf
Several mini golf courses in Maryland also offer other golf services. The Bel Air Golf Center in Kingsville is not only home to Gunpowder Falls Adventure Mini Golf but it also has a driving range featuring 47 tees. The Night Hawk Golf Center in Gambrills is open seven days a week throughout the year. The facility features a par 3 course, a pro shop, lessons and a putting green to perfect your mini golf stroke.
Scenery
Gone are the days where mini golf means windmill decorations. Maryland mini golf courses strive to give their customers some beautiful scenery while they're enjoying their game of golf. Smiley's Fun Zone in McHenry features sparkling ponds and a 32 foot high waterfall while Maui Golf tries to make it feel like you're on vacation with lush gardens and surfboards.
Prices
Prices for mini golf in Maryland vary from course to course. In general you can expect to pay a few dollars less for children than adults and the cost is usually per game. However, some courses such as the Night Hawk Golf Center even offers an all day play rate for only $7.50, as of November 2010. Coupons can be found on some of the courses websites.
