Kirkland Fish Oil Ingredients

Kirkland is the house brand for the Costco discount warehouse stores. Kirkland Signature Fish Oil Concentrate is sold in bottles containing 400 softgel caps. This product contains no artificial colors or flavors, and no yeast, starch or gluten, which is good news since many people take rather large doses of this product in the hope that it will protect them from heart disease and inflammatory disorders.

Fish Oil Concentrate

The primary ingredient in Kirkland Fish Oil is fish oil concentrate. According to the Costco website, the Kirkland brand fish oil concentrate is obtained from anchovies and sardines. Deep-sea fish are used to make Kirkland fish oil, instead of farm-raised varieties. The resulting oil is distilled to remove potential contaminants. The fish oil in one Kirkland softgel contains 300 mg of various omega-3 fatty acids.

Gelatin

According to the Costco website, Kirkland Fish Oil soft gel caps also contain gelatin. Gelatin is customarily used to make the hard capsules and soft gel caps that contain drugs and dietary supplements such as fish oil. Kirkland does not disclose the source of the gelatin, which can come from either plant or animal sources.

Glycerin

The Costco website notes that Kirkland Fish Oil softgels also include glycerin and water. These ingredients are used to make the softgel capsule containing the fish oil. According to the Environmental Working Group's cosmetic safety database, glycerin increases the viscosity of substances in which it is dissolved it is dissolved.

Tocopherol

Tocopherols are a class of naturally occurring chemical compounds related to Vitamin E. Since tocopherol appears last on the list of ingredients, there is less tocopherol in this product than any other ingredient. The nutrition facts on the product do not list vitamin E as one of the nutrients contained therein.
