Facts on Bad Breath Home Remedies

1. Brew Some Fenugreek Tea

Fenugreek tea is one of the best home remedies for bad breath. To make fenugreek tea, boil about a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water for five minutes, which will soften the seeds. Pour the water and seeds in a cup, cover the cup and let it steep for another fifteen minutes and drink up. You can also soak the seeds in cold water for several hours, then strain it and heat it. Make a large batch this way, and heat it as needed. The tea may taste bitter, but a little honey will make it more palatable. Drink two to three cups a day for sweet-smelling breath.

2. Gargle With Parsley and Cloves Mouthwash

A simple mouthwash made from parsley and cloves is a very useful home remedy for bad breath. Chop a handful of parsley and add it to 2 cups of water. Boil the parsley and water for fifteen to twenty minutes. Toss in three to four whole cloves and boil it for another fifteen minutes. Strain the parsley and cloves from the mixture and let it cool. Gargle with the solution 2 to 3 times a day, and you will notice an improvement very quickly. For minty fresh breath, go straight to the source and chew on a few fresh mint leaves.

3. Eat Yogurt Every Day

Quality yogurt contains a number of active cultures which help to fight the bacteria which can cause bad breath. Eating yogurt at least once a day can help to counter bad breath by reducing those odor-causing bacteria. Make sure that you buy yogurt with active cultures and as little added sugar as possible, as sugars can actually feed bacteria.

4. Pass the Avocado and Guava

Snack on some a ripe avocado or a delicious guava. Both are not only healthy and delicious, but when it comes to fighting bad breath, they're superior to any mouthwash on the market. Full of healthy vitamins and minerals, avocado and guava will both promote good digestion and help to clear unhealthy, undigested food from the intestines.

5. Get Sweet Breath With a Healthy Diet

For most people, an unhealthy diet is the number one reason for bad breath, and changing those eating habits will often eliminate the problem. Be sure to eat plenty of fruits, nuts and vegetables, including generous portions of dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale or swiss chard. Keep your sugar intake to a minimum, and avoid junk food, highly-processed foods and high-fat foods as much as possible. Keep the body hydrated by drinking generous amounts of fresh water throughout the day.
