Calories in Pistachios

A favorite treat for snackers, pistachio nuts can be as fun to crack as they are to eat. The tiny green nuts come packed with iron, potassium and protein, while also offering more pieces per serving size than most other nuts.

A 1 oz. serving of pistachios contains 160 calories, according to PistachioHealth.com. For sake of comparison, the same serving size of walnuts has 190 calories, while macadamias and pecans each have 200 calories per serving.

Nutrition

Each 1 oz. serving of pistachios provides 13 g of fat, 1.5 g saturated fat, 8 g of carbohydrates, 3 g dietary fiber and 6 g protein. Pistachios also deliver 9 percent of the daily recommended value of magnesium, 8 percent of potassium, 7 percent of iron and 4 percent of zinc.

Serving Size

It takes 49 pistachios to make up a typical 1 oz. serving, allowing snackers more nuts for their calories. Meanwhile, a similar 1 oz. serving can be made up of 22 almonds, 21 hazelnuts, 19 pecans, 18 cashews or 14 walnuts.
