Wearing sweatshirts and sweat pants, special suits, or even a trash bag are all methods that have been used to produce more sweat when exercising. The belief behind producing more sweat is that this will lead to more weight loss. Coupled with this extreme exercise method are extreme dieting methods from the Atkins diet to the lemonade diet. Such extreme methods are not necessarily the healthiest or best way to lose weight.
Identification
Sweating is the body's way to keep cool. When you work out or partake in strenuous activity that heats your body, it produces sweat in order to cool itself. The sweat glands produce moisture and when this moisture evaporates it cools the body, lowering your body temperature.
Sweat and Weight Loss
It is often thought that sweat loss equals weight loss, but this is not necessarily the case. When you sweat, you lose water and electrolytes, both of which are regained when you again take in water. In this sense you do lose weight, but it is only temporary lose weight, bt it is only temporary. However, you can at times measure your level of exertion by the amount you are sweating. With greater exertion comes more work, which can turn into greater weight loss. In this sense sweating can help you measure the proper exertion to lose weight, but sweating alone does not cause weight loss.
Fad Diets
There are a widespread variety of fad diets on the market today. When exploring these diets, it is important to remember that balance is very important in your diet. If a diet plan includes cutting out one or more food groups, this may not be healthy for you, especially if you have any special health issues. Though a number of these diets may work in accomplishing weight loss, it is unlikely that the results will be lasting, as in order to keep weight off, you have to change your lifestyle.
Healthy Dieting
A healthy diet consists of eating regularly and not cutting out essential food groups. Eating a variety of food and making wise food decisions are part of a healthy diet. Choose a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables as well as healthy, hearty carbs and whole grains instead of processed, high-fat foods. Also, start slowly integrating healthy changes into your eating habits. Changing everything at once will likely be too overwhelming and you may find yourself quickly reverting to your old, unhealthy habits. Remember to always consult your doctor when making any major changes in your diet or exercise routine.
Diet and Exercise
Eating a healthy diet alone likely will not be enough to shed those unwanted pounds. In addition, though sweat itself will not cause actual weight loss, the work that produces it will. Combine that exercise with a healthy diet and you are well on your way to losing and keeping off those extra pounds.
