The Advantages of Juicing

Juicing is primarily a form of detoxification. It involves using a juicing machine to press fruits and vegetables and remove the fiber in them, so that you are left with their juice. Juicing is used instead of blending because juicing reduces the amount of fiber in your drink, which leaves room in your stomach for extra vitamins and minerals from the juiced fruits and vegetable.

A major advantage of juicing is detoxifying your body. Environmental toxins found in air and water pollution along with unhealthy ingredients like saturated fats, corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors found in non-organic processed and junk foods can enter your body and weaken your immune system, according to Dr. Ann Wigmore, a detoxification expert and author of "The Wheatgrass Book." In order to help strengthen your immune system, give it what it thrives on, which includes pure, food-based vitamins and minerals. The more of a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables you use, the more of a variety of vitamins and minerals you will consume. One of the major vitamins to consume to rebuild your immune system is vitamin C. Dr. Wigmore recommends juicing wheatgrass on a regular basis to prevent or treat certain types of cancer, such as colon cancer. Wheatgrass contains vitamin A, B-complex, C, E and K along with a potent nutrient, chlorophyll. To prevent or overcome diseases, Dr. Wigmore suggests an intake of raw foods that provide you with nutrients that are not available in processed, cooked foods.

Weight Loss

Philip McClusky, a weight loss expert, speaker and author of the book "Raw Food Juice Bar" states that a raw vegan diet and juicing can help people lose weight in a healthy manner, because most toxins are stored in fat and as nutrients "attack" and remove the fat cells.The toxins will be released and eliminated from your body. Drink one hearty green juice in the morning instead of breakfast. Use a variety of vegetables, such as raw kale, carrots, cucumbers, dandelion greens and beets. Add a few fruits like apples and melon. After juicing, add 2 tbsp. of hemp seeds and chia seeds for protein, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and minerals.

Extra Energy

David Wolfe, a raw vegan expert, recommends consuming organic raw fruits and vegetables for increased energy. Raw produce provides you with live enzymes, which help break down the food during your digestive process. Because your body uses less of its stored enzymes, it can provide more energy to your other bodily functions. Plus, a healthy body is one with plenty of natural vitality.
