Each clementine fruit provides 0.11 g of fat, 1 mg of sodium, 131 mg of potassium, 8.89 g of carbohydrates, 1.3 g of dietary fiber, 6.79 g of sugar and 0.63 g of protein. Clementines are naturally cholesterol free and contain no saturated fat. A single clementine also delivers 60 percent of the daily recommended value of vitamin C.
History
The precise origins of the clementine remain a mystery, although many credit Algerian monk Father Clement Rodier with discovering the first clementine in his orphanage garden. However, others believe the fruit originated centuries earlier in China.
