Hyperpigmentation simply means too much melanin. The condition manifests itself as age spots, melasma, dark or bronze skin patches and excessive freckling. Hyperpigmentation isn't dangerous and doesn't require treatment unless you're cosmetically displeased with it. Acids that slough away the top layers of skin and promote skin regeneration are effective at replacing hyperpigmented skin with new, normal colored skin, according to "The Doctor's Book of Home Remedies II." Lemon juice is a type of natural acid that you can use to fade your hyperpigmentation.

Step 1

See a doctor or dermatologist to make sure you have hyperpigmentation and not an underlying health condition, like skin cancer, recommends MedlinePlus.

Step 2

Roll a fresh lemon between your palm and the counter top with moderate pressure. This helps release the juice from the lemon.

Step 3

Slice the lemon in half. Squeeze on of the lemon halves into a bowl until you can't get any more juice out of it.
