Everything you buy in the supermarket will have a nutrition label. It's printed on all packaged foods and beverages, including alcohol. The Nutrition Facts label quantifies a serving size is and how many calories in that serving size.
Beer
According to the USDA National Nutrient Database, one 12-oz. can or bottle of ordinary beer has 153 calories. There is one serving of beer in a 12-oz. can. One fluid ounce of beer, which has 13 calories, is a fraction of a serving. So if you drink one pint of beer, it amounts to 16 oz. and 208 calories.
Wine
One serving of wine amounts to 5 oz. A glass of red table wine, which contains one serving, has 123 calories. If you pour yourself a large glass of wine, you may want to count by ounces. A 1-oz. pour of red wine has 24 calories.
Liquor
Distilled alcohol, like vodka, rum, whiskey and gin, contains 97 calories per serving. A serving of liquor, also known as a jigger or shot, is 1.5 oz. A mixed drink, or a drink poured over ice, may have more than a serving of liquor. So per ounce, liquor contains 64 calories.
