Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center
Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center has 321 acute-care beds. The not-for-profit community hospital in East Patchogue has a level II trauma center, a hemodialysis program, home health and hospice services. It was established in 1956 and serves 28 communities throughout central Suffolk County.

North Shore University Hospital
North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset is a tertiary care facility as well as an academic campus for the New York University School of Medicine. According to the hospital's Web site, it was named the nation's top hospital by AARP's Modern Maturity magazine. It has 731 beds and a staff of 2,700 physicians. Specialties include open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, urology and maternal-fetal medicine. The hospital also has intensive care for medical, surgical, newborn and pediatric patients.

New Island Hospital was formerly named Mid-Island Hospital and boasts 223 beds. St. Mary's Hospital for Children
St. Mary's Hospital for Children provides rehabilitation, specialized care and education to children with special needs. The hospital has 44 beds for children who are referred following hospitalizations in acute care facilities for complications from premature birth, illness and injury. According to its Web site, it is the largest provider of long-term home health care for children in New York State, treating nearly 4,000 children each day throughout the metropolitan area through a network of inpatient, home care and community programs. St. Mary's is a not-for-profit health care organization.
