Whenever you have a cut, injury or wound to the skin it heals into a scar. Scars can also be the result of burns, acne, surgery and weight loss. The severity and appearance of scar depends on your age, genetics, location, nutrition and how quickly you treat a cut or injury. Unfortunately, you can not permanently get rid of a scar but you can make them less noticeable through treatment.

Healing and treating a scar

Step 1

Disinfect the fresh cut or wound immediately with tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Step 2

Cleanse the effected area with warm water and drops of lavender oil. Lavender oil helps fight infection and build new skin cells.

Step 3

Regenerate new skin and relieve pain with helichrysum essential oil. Cover the cut or wound with a piec of gauze or band aid so that it can heal properly.

Step 4

Moisturize with aloe vera, cocoa butter, shea butter or vitamin E oil. Keeping the skin moist aids in the healing process.

Step 5

Visit a doctor or dermatologist if the scar does not disappear or gets infected. The professionals can offer steroid injection, laser surgery, dermabrasion or grafts to heal the skin.

Tips and Warnings

  • Treat a cut or wound immediately to minimize scarring by stopping the bleeding, cleansing thoroughly and applying an antibiotic. Monitor the cut or wound for infection.
