Foods that contains high amounts of fats are unhealthy for consumption. Eating these foods on a regular basis may cause kidney and heart disease, as well as diabetes, not to mention obesity. The blood vessels of your body can become clogged with fat as a result of a diet rich in fats. Certain foods contain higher amounts of cholesterol, trans fats and saturated fats. All of these types of fats cause long-term health problems.

Pork

Pork products, which come from pigs, contain high levels of fat. They are also high in salt. Pork includes bacon, pork roasts, ribs, sausage and pigs feet, among many others. You can help to lower your cholesterol levels by avoiding all types of pork.

Fatty Meats

Red meat tends to have high concentrations of fat. While some hamburger and steaks may have the fat content reduced, any visible signs of fat can cause problems. For example, if you cook hamburgers and you find they decrease in size and produce a great deal of grease during cooking, it means they have a high fat content. You should avoid steak that has visible fat or, if possible, remove the fat before eating the steak.

Eggs

Eggs are high in cholesterol and fat. The egg whites themselves are not high in cholesterol. It is the egg yolks that are high in cholesterol and should be consumed in small quantities.

Milk

Whole milk, a dairy product, also contains high levels of saturated fat similar to butter. You can find lower-fat content milk, such as 1 percent or 2 percent milk for a healthier diet. Apart from the fat content, milk does provide vitamin D and calcium needed for strong bones and teeth.

Cheese

Cheese, another dairy product made from churned milk, is high in saturated fats, MayoClinic.com reports. Some cheeses have much higher fat levels than others. Cheddar, for example, contains more than double the fat content of cottage cheese. Goats milk cheese, gouda, blue cheese and brie also have high saturated fat content.

Coconut Oil and Palm Oil

Coconut oil and palm oil are high in fat. More people use these oils for purported health reasons, but may not realize that they have high fat content.

Avocado

Avocados are high in fats and should be consumed in moderation, MayoClinic.com. They do offer vitamins and minerals, however. They are considered a healthier form of fat. They are eaten by themselves or with Mexican-type specialty dishes such as guacamole.

Pastries and Doughnuts

Pastries and doughnuts are high in sugar and trans fats, MayoClinic.com reports. They should be avoided if at all possible and replaced with fresh fruit. They are also very high in calories.
