Overview

Redline RTD contains a proprietary blend of caffeine, amino acids, their derivatives, herbal ingredients such as huperzine A, yohimbine, yerba mate, green tea and other ingredients. It contains no calories, fat or carbohydrate. Redline increases energy and burns fat through induction of shivering and sweating. Bottles of Redline RTD contain eight ounces. Consumption of more than four ounces at one time may produce adverse health effects. Consult a doctor before taking any dietary supplement.

Branched-Chain Amino Acids

Isoleucine, leucine and valine, essential amino acids, comprise the basic structural components of proteins. According to RxList, branched-chain amino acids may minimize muscle breakdown during exercise, but may not enhance athletic performance. For safety reasons, limit branched-chain amino acid supplementation to six months or less. Side effects such as loss of coordination and fatigue may occur. RxList cautions use during tasks that require coordination, such as driving. Do not take branched-chain amino acids within two weeks of surgery.

Huperzine A

Huperzine, a derivative of a plant called the Toothed Club Moss, causes an increase in levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. According to RxList, more research is needed to determine if huperzine increases alertness or energy. For safety, limit huperzine supplementation to less than one month duration. Side effects such as sweating, high blood pressure, slowed heart rate, blurred vision and slurred speech may occur.

5-Hydroxytryptophan

Seeds of the African plant Griffonia simplicfolia generate the 5-HTP used in Redline. According to RxList, not enough data exists to rate effectiveness of 5-HTP for weight loss, obesity and other conditions. Five-HTP increases the production of serotonin. Serotonin may affect body temperature, pain sensation and appetite. Side effects may include muscle problems, nausea and vomiting. Do not take 5-HTP within two weeks of surgery. Medications for depression may produce side effects such as shivering, anxiety, heart and blood pressure problems or coma if combined with 5-HTP. The pain medication Demerol or cough medicines that contain dextromethorphan may cause shivering and heart problems if taken with 5-HTP.

Electrolytes

The Redline supplement facts label categorizes an “electrolyte matrix,” comprised of calcium, potassium and magnesium. According to the daily value recommendation, it provides zero percent of the DV for calcium, and one percent of the DV for each potassium and magnesium.
