To maintain your after peel results, you will need maintenance treatments. The number and frequency will be determined by how your skin reacts to the glycolic acid used. Often, you will begin with the lowest-strength peel so that you can gauge your results.
Safety
The 30 percent glycolic acid peels have a good safety history. However, if you have rosacea or darkly pigmented skin they may not be for you. The peel causes redness of your skin plus, it can either lighten or darken your skin color. However, this is a rare occurrence. If you have sensitive skin, you may also find that you have swelling, crusting and scabbing following a treatment. If this happens, steroid cream or lotion can be applied to reduce the symptoms.
