If you're watching fat intake and craving a bagel, an asiago cheese bagel isn't the best choice, especially if you top it with high-fat cream cheese. Look for bagels that are low in fat instead.

Nutrition

An Asiago cheese bagel contains 330 calories, according to the CalorieKing Web site. It provides 6 g of fat, 3 g of which are saturated. One bagel also contains 10 mg of cholesterol, 570 mg of sodium, 55 g of carbohydrate, 2 g of fiber and 13 g of protein.

Comparison

Calories vary depending on the type of bagel. A plain bagel contains 290 calories. A whole grain bagel has 370 calories. An "everything" bagel has 300 calories. A blueberry bagel contains 330 calories. Note that Asiago cheese bagels are high in fat. Whole grain bagels may be a better choice because they contain 6 g of fiber.

Tips

Light cream cheese is a good choice for a bagel topping because it has fewer calories and less saturated fat. According to MSNBC, peanut butter is an even better option because of higher protein. Have some fruit with your bagel to balance out your meal.
