Tips on Dieting on the LA Weight Loss Diet

The LA Weight Loss diet program is available online or in centers; however, as of 2010, many centers have closed. This diet is based on learning to make healthy food choices and not eating prepackaged meals. By following the diet precisely, you will likely lose some weight, but there are things you can do to maximize your weight loss on this program.

Get Off to the Right Start

The first part of the LA Weight Loss diet plan is called "take off." During this phase, you detox your body and prepare for the weight loss. For these two days, you must eat as many servings of protein -- including two mandatory eggs each day -- and green vegetables as possible. However, you can't have any dairy, grains or fruits. You will also have to drink a special juice-type beverage. During this portion of the diet, the more you eat, the better your results will be. To get as much food in as possible, eat every one to two hours throughout the day.

Eat Full Servings

Each serving on the LA weight loss diet of each food must be eaten in a single sitting. That means that you can't eat half a serving of fruit and then finish that serving at lunch. The reason is that your body will expect the rest of the serving and may send out hunger signals. The one exception to this guideline is milk. It is acceptable to split milk servings in half. To make sure you are able to get all servings of all food groups in, use the food planner or diary that comes with the plan. On most LA Weight Loss plans, you eat two servings of protein, starch, fat and protein-based snacks, three servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables. On some plans, these serving requirements may be higher.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking at least 64 oz. of water a day is an important part of the LA Weight Loss diet. Staying hydrated maximizes your chance for successful weight loss because you are less likely to become thirsty. There is a chance that if you get thirsty, you will mistake thirst for hunger and eat unnecessarily.

Exercise Daily

Only light exercise for 15 minutes per day is required on this diet. However, you can maximize your results by following the American College of Sports Medicine's recommended 60 to 90 minutes of moderate exercise daily. Walk at a fast pace, swim laps or play full-court basketball to meet this recommendation.

Snacks

The LA Weight Loss plan requires two protein-based snacks daily. You can opt to purchase soy-based LA Lites, or you can pick up similar soy bars in the store. Pack these bars in an insulated cooler with an ice pack for a healthy snack on-the-go.
