Calories Burned in Wrestling & Basketball Practice

Wrestling and basketball are very dissimilar sports, the workouts for which have different effects on your body. Both can benefit your health if done safely.

Workout

The majority of basketball activities are aerobic. For the most part, wrestling is not an aerobic activity, instead providing your body with an anaerobic workout.

Basketball

A 150-lb. person practicing basketball for an hour burns approximately 400 calories. An hour-long basketball game, because of its faster pace and higher intensity, burns approximately 150 calories more.

Wrestling

Wrestling is a type of resistance training. A 150-lb. person will burn approximately 400 to 450 calories in a 45-minute wrestling session.
