Weight Loss
Los Angeles is known for its slim residents, and the LA Weight Loss Diet offers the promise of a healthy body to dieters. The diet include three steps to permanent weight loss: weight loss, stabilization and maintenance using five steps to weight loss success: balance, personalization, accountability, flexibility and ease of following.
The first step in beginning the diet is a consultation with an LA Weight Loss nutritional counselor. The counselor takes an inventory of the person's current weight, diet and exercise level and then discusses goals and weight loss roadblocks the dieter may have experienced in the past.
Next, the nutritional counselor discusses a balanced approach to eating. The premise of the LA Weight Loss plan is not based around restricting one food group or eating prepackaged foods. Instead, it is centered on emphasizing moderation and making healthy food choices. The diet plan emphasizes why one should choose a healthy food over an unhealthy one. A nutritional counselor also pinpoints a personalized health plan for the dieter that centers around healthy foods that person enjoys in suitable portions. The goal is not to lose weight quickly, but instead to lose weight in a way that ensures the dieter can keep it off.
While each person's meal plan is individualized, there is a basic structure to the meal plan, including: two protein selections, three fruit selections, three vegetable selections, two starch selections, two fat selections and two protein snacks. Dieters can choose from an extensive list of choices that range by portion size.
Stabilization
Once a person has reached the weight loss goal or begun to see success in weight loss, the dieter enters the stabilization portion of the diet. At this time, the person meets again with a nutritional counselor to pinpoint foods that can be reintroduced into the dieter's nutrition plan. The counselor also offers advice and encouragement on how results can be sustained in the long term. The person also receives suggestions for dining at a restaurant or traveling.
Maintenance
The previous phases of the LA Weight Loss Diet still required a person to attend weekly counseling sessions. However, through the maintenance portion, the nutritional counselor offers tips to keep the weight off for a lifetime. The dieter is asked to compare her life before the program to her life after losing weight--and how the healthy habits established have resulted in more energy.
