Commercial archery targets can be expensive. Fortunately, you can make your own archery target at home from inexpensive materials. With a safe area to practice, you can enjoy your hobby at home and improve your accuracy.
Sandwich Style Target
Step 1
Using cardboard, prepare two circles that measure 3 feet in diameter. Using an ice pick, punch holes around the perimeter of both circles, at equal distances apart.
Step 2
Gather foam and other materials to use to "stuff" the target. Old rugs, old clothes, plastic bags and bottoms from string or rag mops are good choices.
Step 3
Place one of your cardboard circles on a level surface. Glue "stuffing" on top of the circle to a height of about 7 to10 inches. Be liberal in your application of glue. Top the "stuffing" with the second cardboard circle. Using heavy string, "sew" the two cardboard circles together tightly using the holes you punched earlier.
Step 4
Place the finished target in a safe location.
Simple Target
Step 1
Purchase several hay bales and stack them up to form a target.
Step 2
Cover hay bales with burlap and tie in place with string.
Step 3
Cover hay bales with tarp when not in use to protect the target from the elements.
