Some food is unhealthy for everyone, no matter how good it tastes. Most people justify incorporating some of these harmful foods into their diets by saying they don't indulge often, or a little bit of a bad thing really isn't all that bad. The problem with that reasoning is that it is so difficult to know when to stop. Plus some of the foods continue to get worse because more preservatives, hydrogenated fat, sugar and salt are added to compete with other junk foods for flavor.

Frozen Entrees and Microwave Meals

Many processed frozen entrees are much more harmful than their homemade counterparts. For example, one popular national brand of chicken pot pie contains 64 grams of fat and 1,020 calories per serving. Many of the microwave diet meals are low in fat, but they are heavily processed and contain large amounts of sodium.

Packaged Cookies, Doughnuts and Frozen Desserts

Most packaged and fast food sweet treats are full of ingredients to keep you coming back for more, but with no concern for the nutrition factor. Packaged cookies are made with bleached flour and sugar that contains no nutritional value. Doughnuts are unhealthy, no matter where they come from because they are loaded with fats, sugars and preservatives.

Frozen desserts are packed with sugar, high fructose corn syrup (more sugar) hydrogenated fat and preservatives. The best tasting store-bought ice cream is often so full of fat one serving will give you more than you should have for an entire day. It also contains refined sugar.

Bologna, Hotdogs, Bacon and Sausage

Most commercial packaged lunch meats are processed with unhealthy preservatives. Bologna, hotdogs, bacon and sausages are among the worst. Other processed meats are high in sodium, fat and preservatives as well.

Most Fast Food

Fast food restaurants are great places to get a quick fix of cholesterol, sodium and refined foods. Hamburgers, fish or chicken sandwiches and French fries give you more than your recommended daily allowance of fat but very little of the nutrition you need.

Other Unhealthy Food

The average American needs to eliminate, or at least cut back on, many other items that are also unhealthy. Some of them include potato chips, nachos, cheese spreads with preservatives and unhealthy fat, anything with white flour, sodas and unhealthy condiments.
