Facts on Masturbation
1. Nature Calls
Most boys begin to play with themselves very early and some begin masturbating before they even reach puberty. Girls, on the other hand, typically do not experiment with masturbation until they are taught or they read about it. Masturbation is a natural part of growing up and children should not be given erroneous information or old wives tales such as it will "make you go blind" or "stunt your growth."
2. Finding Pleasure
Women began talking more about masturbation when the controversial book "The Feminine Mystique" by Betty Friedan came out in 1963, describing female pleasure and how to engage in it. Women were told they no longer needed men to support them or to satisfy them in bed. The G-spot was discussed and became a part of the fabric of the social experience known as the women's movement. For most women, finding the G-spot may take experimentation and varying hand movements to explore different regions of the genitalia. Some women prefer a fast, even motion, while others can achieve orgasm by slow and steady movement over this area.
3. Give As You Get
Masturbation does not have to be practiced exclusively in private. It can be a great addition to a mutual sex encounter. Successfully masturbating your partner requires a level of intimacy that is often lacking in sexual intercourse. The participants should talk about what excites them and instruct each other in how best to perform the act. Everyone develops his or her own pace and style of masturbation and sharing that with a partner can bring a couple closer.
4. Slippery Slope
While masturbation can offer healthy release of anxiety, ease the pain of menstrual cramps and serve as a sleep aide, it can also turn into an a serious addiction. The release of endorphins associated with masturbation becomes a necessary part of the day when it is used as an escape, even after only a short time. Masturbation becomes a problem when it interferes with your life. Some 12-step programs are available for people with this sexual addiction and counseling can be helpful. The first step is to admit there is a problem and seek help.
5. Too Much of a Good Thing
Another drawback of excessive masturbation is that it can create a sexual dysfunction where it becomes difficult to achieve orgasm without the rapid stimulation derived from masturbation. While you may maintain an erection during intercourse or become lubricated enough for full penetration, climax can be difficult. A sexual partner may take it personally, thinking he or she is not good enough to bring you to orgasm.

I am embarrassed I masterbated last week Wednesday for the first time, and I was scared I shouldn't be but I was! I have a husband whom isn't interested in sex (true) and I bought a dildo in replacement of him! We have been married now for almost "7" years and its getting harder and harder. I am unhappy because we hardly ever have sex and I have to pleasure myself. I kept on coming after I was done is that normal? I don't know why that would happen? Because of my first time? i need a doctors advice or anyone, thanks

Unfortunately the embarassment is a product of society just now coming to terms with women taking charge of their own pleasure. You shouldn't be ashamed! How long did it last? Everyone is different and will experience orgasms differently so I wouldn't be too concerned.. but if you're really worried I'd contact your OBGYN. :)
As for your marriage, have you talked to your husband about it? He should at the very least be open to listening to your issues, you shouldn't have to suffer in a relationship that isn't physically satisfying. A lot of times I'm surprised to find that not all men realize that sex is not just a physical activity for women, but a deeply emotional one as well. If all else fails try and see a counselor with him!

I masturbate often but I always feel guilty after .Is tihs normal? Is masturbating good ? Is there any sideeffects.
by ashwee1 on April 4, 2009 at 7:47 PM
There are no side affects and it's verry normal to feel guilty

I always did as well, but I think that comes from the closeness we are not sharing with a partner. God created us to share that feeling.
It's also awkward if you are young and you hide it from your parents. That was another reason I felt guilty.

you should never be embarrassed to masturbate. the feeling most likely spawns from an unhealthy discussion or lack there of in childhood.

Hi,I'm Josh and i'm a guy and I masturbate and I can only ejaculate but never cum. Why? Could any of you give me tips?
by weatherboi on October 9, 2009 at 4:12 PM
This is for Josh123456 as I see no one answered your question. But the question I would ask,if you ejaculated but did not cum, what did you ejaculate? Did you mean U had an orgasm, but nothing came out?

Being 13, it's sounds like nothing to be worried about. Orgasm, maybe I am spelling it wrong, has something to do when you cum. Google the word, U will get a better explanion.

I just turned 15, female and I started playing with myself when I was about 10 or 11 while lying in bed at nite, but I didnt know what I was doing, then when i was 12 I was at a GF house for a sleepover and she showed me how to use her Sis.s clit viberator, She used it on Me a few times and I couldnt stop cumming OMG! Then I used it on her, I loved it, but does that make me gay? now, I want to do it all the time now.
