Phoenix, Arizona, is an exciting city for senior citizens as well as other members of the population. The weather can be extremely hot in the summer but on the flip side the weather stays warm enough for outdoor activities in the winter. This means that year-round, you can be active outdoors as well as take part in plenty of indoor activities if you would rather stay cool. Many clubs for seniors in the Phoenix area provide lively activities to keep you active and enjoying yourself.

Social Clubs

Social clubs in Phoenix provide senior citizens with the opportunity to interact with one another on a regular basis. This can be particularly helpful if you live on your own, do not have a wide social circle and are interested in meeting new people. Phoenix's social clubs include Sun City West's Boomers, the Men's Social Club, the Women's Social Club and the Singles Club. Each of these clubs offers members a different focus, such as spending time with members of the same sex or meeting eligible prospects for a date.

Golf

Phoenix is a big golf town because of the year-round warm temperatures, so if golf is something you enjoy you can definitely find it here. The Sun City West Community Center has information on golf clubs at many of the golf courses in the Phoenix area, including Pebblebrook, Stardust and Echo Mesa. These golf clubs offer the opportunity for seniors to play golf with other seniors and enter tournaments for a reasonable price. There are also many other golf courses and country clubs around Phoenix where senior citizens may play golf.

Arts and Crafts

Phoenix has many groups and clubs that make art and crafts through the Sun West Community Center. Classes and groups include calligraphy, basket making, beading, working with clay, embroidery, creating silk flowers, painting porcelain and woodworking. There are also many other classes in areas of dance and other areas of art. These clubs and groups meet at different locations in the city of Phoenix and provide you with much of the equipment that you need to be creative.

Cards and Games

If you are a senior citizen interested in playing games and cards in the city of Phoenix there are plenty of venues to do so. The Sun City West Community Center has clubs for bridge, bunco, canasta, cribbage, euchre, mah jongg and pinochle. These clubs usually have very small fees, such as $3 per year (as of 2010), and provide you with a place to play your favorite card game with other interested players.

Phoenix is a bustling metropolitan area and offers many cultural, artistic and sporting events. The city has opportunities to listen to poetry readings, attend plays and musical events, attend professional sports games, go to art museums and a variety of other cultural events.
