Fat deposits located just below the surface of your skin can produce lumps, bumps and dimples. University of Maryland Medical Center explains that collagen breakdown in the skin accentuates the bulging fat, giving your skin a rippled appearance. Cellulite creams promise to rid your body of cellulite. But before you purchase one of these remedies, consider a homemade way to conquer your cellulite dilemma.

Step 1

Dry brush your skin before every shower, using a bath brush with nylon bristles. Rub the bristles of the bath brush in circular motions over your cellulite.

Step 2

Continue dry brushing your cellulite for 10 minutes, once a day. Shower to remove any dead skin and dirt that accumulates on your skin during the dry brushing process.

Step 3

Replace dry brushing with a coffee scrub once a week. According to Dr. Oz, coffee is a diuretic that can help diminish excess fluid under your skin, making celullite less apparent. Prepare the coffee scrub by combining ½ cup coffee grounds and ¼ cup brown sugar in a medium bowl.

Step 4

Mix the coffee grains and brown sugar together with a spoon and add enough olive oil to form a thick, gritty paste. Rub the paste over your cellulite using your fingertips for five minutes.

Step 5

Remove the coffee, brown sugar and olive oil paste with warm water from your shower. Blot your skin dry with an absorbent towel after showering. Apply a moisturizing lotion to your skin afterward.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you do not have olive oil, substitute almond or coconut oil.
  • If your skin develops a rash or becomes swollen, painful or discolored after dry brushing or rubbing with the cellulite paste, discontinue use immediately. If symptoms continue, seek medical attention.
