Although Massachusetts-based coffee company Dunkin' Donuts is famous for its numerous coffee drinks and flavorful doughnuts, the chain has one chai beverage on its retail menu as of November 2010. Called Vanilla Chai, the hot drink is made with vanilla chai powder, skim milk, sugar and tea.
Total Calories
One serving of Dunkin' Donuts' Vanilla Chai is 14 oz. and contains 330 calories. In comparison, a standard vanilla-flavored thick milkshake has about 351 calories in an 11 oz. serving, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Fat Calories
About 21 percent of the calories in a serving of Vanilla Chai, or 70 calories, come from fat. Each serving of the beverage contains 8g of fat overall, which equals 12 percent of the recommended daily amount of total fat in a diet of 2,000 calories, and 8g of saturated, which supplies 40 percent of the daily recommended amount.
Other Nutrients
One Vanilla Chai from Dunkin' Donuts also contains 10mg of cholesterol, 45g of sugar and 180mg of sodium. Beneficial nutrients include 1g of dietary fiber and 11g of protein, in addition to varying amounts of calcium, iron and vitamins A and C.
