Pinot Noir has 145 calories per 6-oz serving, while Merlot has 146 calories. Cabernet Sauvignon is listed as having just 2 fewer calories per serving, at 144.
White Wine
The USDA database lists white wine as containing fewer calories than red wine per 6-oz serving. An average glass of white wine has 145 calories. Pinot Blanc and Riesling white wines both contain 142 calories per 6-oz serving. Pinot Grigio has 146 calories.
Considerations
The standard measurement for a glass of wine is 5 ounces, for both red and white wine. Most restaurants and bars will attempt to pour about 5 ounces per glass. This would make the caloric count slightly less than what is listed above.
