Calories in Wendy's Chicken Nuggets

Wendy's offers regular and spicy chicken nuggets in kids', five-piece and 10-piece sizes. The fast food restaurant chain offers six different sauces to dip nuggets in, including Wild Buffalo Ranch and barbecue sauce. While each nugget is relatively small, the calories can add up quickly, especially if you add other items to your meal.

Calories

Regular chicken nuggets contain about 45 calories each, according to the Wendy's website. The nuggets are breaded chicken breast cooked in soy, corn, cottonseed or hydrogenated soy oil. Spicy chicken nuggets contain 47 calories each.

Low-calorie Options

Order a Wendy's Homestyle Chicken Go Wrap and split the wrap in half for a quick snack and a slightly lower calorie count. Half a wrap contains 160 calories, 70 from fat. The wrap also includes 385 mg. of sodium and slightly higher amounts of vitamins C and A, calcium and iron. Instead of chicken, choose a vegetable dish. Opt for a plain baked 10-oz. potato with about 280 calories. Alternative low-calorie options at Wendy's include a side dish of mandarin oranges or garden side salad with ranch dressing.

Sauces

Sauces add additional calories to your Wendy's meal. One package of sauce equals one serving that come with Wendy's Chicken Nuggets. The sauce lowest in calories is barbecue with 45 per serving, followed by sweet and sour sauce with 50 calories per serving. Honey mustard and honey nuggets sauce contain about 85 calories. Wild Buffalo Ranch contains 180 calories, and Heartland Ranch contains 120 calories per serving.

Additional Nutritional Information

Wendy's chicken five-piece regular chicken nuggets contain 430 mg. of sodium. This is nearly 20 percent of your daily recommended intake of sodium, when using guidelines suggested by the Mayo Clinic. The nuggets contain small amounts of calcium and iron.
