Chocolate Easter eggs are quite different from regular eggs. Unlike the healthy food their shape imitates, chocolate Easter eggs are low in protein and high in carbohydrates.
Calories
The online nutrition resource MyFitnessPal notes that one chocolate Easter egg contains 85 calories. MayoClinic.com reports that it would take less than a half an hour of walking to burn off those calories.
Fat
Chocolate Easter eggs are relatively high in fat, considering their low calorie count. MyFitnessPal says each egg contains 4 g of fat. Of this fat, 3 g come from saturated fat. The American Heart Association suggests limiting saturated fat intake to less than 16 g per day.
Carbohydrates
According to MyFitnessPal, each chocolate Easter egg contains 11 g of carbohydrates. Of these carbohydrates, 10 g come from sugar, while none come from fiber.
Protein
While regular eggs are rich in protein, chocolate Easter eggs are not. MyFitnessPal notes that each chocolate egg contains just 1 g of protein. The Harvard School of Public Health notes you should consume between 20 and 25 percent of your daily calories from protein.
