How to Get Rid of Wrinkles in the Corner of Your Eye

Wrinkles in the corners of your eyes, more commonly known as "crow's feet," can start creeping in as early as your 20s. According to an article in Marie Claire magazine, plastic surgeon Robert Grant, M.D., says this is because your body stops producing as much sebum as you age, which leads to dryness and makes your skin more susceptible to the sun damage that can cause wrinkles. No over-the-counter products will make your crow's feet vanish, but you can take steps to improve their appearance. Protect your skin from harm and replenish its lost moisture, and those fine lines will begin to diminish.

Step 1

Apply an eye primer in the morning after you have cleaned and dried your skin. Allure magazine recommends selecting a product that contains silicone, which the will help fill in fine lines to lessen the look of your eye wrinkles as soon as you apply it. Dot a small amount of the cream on the outer corners of your eyes and gently smooth it in. Wait two minutes before moving on.

Step 2

Smooth on a moisturizing eye cream. Cosmopolitan magazine suggests using one that contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump up your skin, helping to minimize wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the air and seals it into your skin, providing your eye area with hydration throughout the day. Dab the cream on the corners of your eyes, as well as your undereye area, and massage it in.

Step 3

Use a soft brush to apply any undereye concealer or eye makeup. According to Cosmopolitan, you can cause permanent damage to your skin by rubbing it too harshly, which can lead to more wrinkles and sagging. Dab on your makeup with a light touch and blend it in gently.

Step 4

Wear big sunglasses whenever you are exposed to sunlight. Squinting can deepen eye wrinkles and make your crow's feet worse, says Dr. Grant. Choose large frames or ones that wrap around your eyes for the most effective sun protection.

Step 5

Remove any eye makeup with a cotton pad and a gentle makeup remover, and do not tug or rub your skin. Wash your face and eyes, dry off and then apply a nighttime eye cream with retinol. According to Marie Claire, this product will help replenish your skin's lost collagen and fill in wrinkles while you sleep. Massage the cream onto your eye area before bed.
