Pizza Calorie List

If you don't have the time or the energy to cook dinner tonight, you might reach for the number of your local pizzeria. Before you pick up the phone, consider that not all pizzas are created equal. Weigh the pros and cons of each pizza topping before adding them to your order, and avoid putting additional garlic sauce or Parmesan cheese on your pizza, as those will pile on the calories.

Cheese Pizza

Cheese only is the go-to pizza for dieters and picky eaters. Although your pizza will still be high-calorie, it is one of the wiser options on most pizza menus. Two slices of cheese pizza at Domino's Pizza contains 426 calories, with 144 calories from fat for two slices. Two slices of cheese pizza at Pizza Hut contains 640 calories, and 220 calories from fat, and that's if you don't eat or drink anything else for dinner. If you pair that with a few bread sticks or a soda, your caloric intake will be even higher. If you are dieting, ordering a cheese pizza is the wisest choice, although the pizza may be slightly more nutritious if you add vegetables.

Pepperoni Pizza

Pepperoni pizza is a pizza favorite among kids and meat lovers, but is it worth all the extra fat and calories to add pepperoni to your pizza? Adding pepperoni to two slices of Pizza Hut pizza will take your intake up 40 calories, to 680 calories per serving and 260 calories from fat. Adding pepperoni to two slices of Domino's Pizza adds 98 calories to your meal, for a total of 594 calories for two slices, with 225 of those calories from fat. Adding a seemingly harmless topping like pepperoni to your pizza can really pack a punch, especially if you eat more than two slices.

Vegetable Pizza

Veggie pizza is the wisest pizza choice for vegetarians or if you're trying to add some healthy toppings to your pizza. Although it may appear that your pizza is more nutritionally balanced, most delivery pizzas don't add enough veggies to make it worth your while. For example, two slices of Pizza Hut pizza with onions, green peppers, black olives and tomatoes contains 580 calories, and 180 calories from fat. Two slices of Domino's Pizza with the same toppings contains 512 calories and 144 calories from fat. Although a pizza with veggies may be a wiser choice than pepperoni, if you are counting calories, plain cheese pizza is still the way to go.

Meat Lover's Pizza

Meat lover's pizza is a hearty, indulgent pizza that is probably best when limited to special occasions. Consuming two slices of pizza with pepperoni, sausage, ham, beef and bacon from Pizza Hut will set you back a whopping 880 calories and 420 calories from fat. Two slices of Domino's pizza with the same meaty toppings will cost you 714 calories and 306 calories from fat. If you are watching your weight, avoid the barrage of meat toppings and skip straight to the cheese or veggie pizza.
