The Fat Smash Diet was developed by Dr. Ian K.Smith and was used on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. The Fat Smash Diet is also popular due to its flexible food options. However, phase one of the plan is considered the detoxification phase and has a more limited food selection than the other three phases to allow the body to rid itself of toxins and other impurities. You are also encouraged to eat four or five meals a day without skipping meals and to drink plenty of water. Remember to check with a physician before making any changes to your diet.
Types Of Foods
The Fat Smash Diet allows for variety in the foods you eat. All fruits and vegetables except for avocados and white potatoes are allowed during the phase one of the plan. Also included are limited amounts of brown rice, oatmeal, low-fat yogurt and egg whites. You must eat all the foods either raw, steamed or grilled. Try making hummus from chickpeas or a three-bean salad with endless amounts of fruits and vegetables as a delicious lunch or steamed veggies with brown rice for dinner.
Types of Fats
Phase one does limit the amount of fat allowed daily. Fats are limited to only 3 tbsp. per day. Within that limit, at least 1 to 2 tsp. of daily fats should be from olive oil. Try adding a small amount of olive oil to a green salad, tomato and cucumber salad or other raw vegetable dishes.
Types Of Drinks
Phase one of the plan allows for limited amounts of drinking options as well. Herbal teas as well as low-fat, skim or soy milk is permitted. Also, water is encouraged to help the body flush out toxins and other impurities. Enjoy a warm cup of herbal tea in the morning instead of your regular coffee or pour a small amount of soy milk on your oatmeal. Carry a water bottle with you at all times to ensure you are getting enough water throughout the day.
Time Frame
Although the entire Fat Smash Diet is a 90-day program, Phase one of the program only lasts nine days. These nine days are designed to rid your body of toxins and break any bad eating habits you may have developed. Once you have completed these nine days, you will move on to phases two through four, which have a less-strict meal plan.
