Cellulite is one of the worst beauty embarrassments women have to deal with, according to "Allure" magazine, which puts cellulite in the same unsavory category as bacne and excessively sweaty underarms. Unfortunately, there's no real fix for cellulite, so once it appears--usually on your hips, thighs and rear--it's there to stay. Though you can't make cellulite go away for good, you can make it temporarily vanish with a combination of topical treatments and exercise.

Step 1

Eat less salt, recommends the beauty department at "Elle" magazine. Since excess salt makes your body's fat cells retain water, too much salt in your diet can make cellulite dimples more noticeable.

Step 2

Get plenty of aerobic exercise during the day to boost circulation and improve muscle tone, which can tighten your skin to make cellulite less noticeable. Regular exercise also reduces your risk for rapid weight gain, a significant contributor to the development of cellulite. Walking and stair climbing are both good options.

Step 3

Apply a body cream that contains caffeine to problem areas in the morning and throughout the day as needed, recommends dermatologist Ranella Hirsch in "Allure" magazine. Caffeine temporarily tightens skin because it's a vasoconstrictor.

Step 4

Use a night cream that contain peptides on cellulite-prone areas.Peptides help stimulate collagen production, which can improve the appearance of cellulite over time and help prevent existing cellulite from becoming more noticeable.

Step 5

Use your hands to massage the parts of your body that have cellulite, recommends "Elle" magazine. Massage improves circulatory and lymphatic movement in your body, temporarily making skin look smoother and tighter.

Tips and Warnings

  • Moisturizing, light-reflecting lotions and self-tanner can make cellulite's lumps and bumps almost immediately less noticeable.
