Dumbbells are also more effective for weight loss than home gym machines because dumbbells require more muscle recruitment to use. Machines allow you to sit down and isolate large muscles, like your quads or pecs. Dumbbells require you to use your core and stabilizer muscles to balance your body while moving the dumbbells.
Cardio DVDs
The absolute best way to lose weight quickly is to find something you enjoy doing at home. Using a DVD that includes fast-paced music and movements you enjoy will be easier for you to do daily than forcing yourself to use an expensive cardio machine or home gym. DVDs offer variety as well. Many DVDs incorporate hip hop moves, belly dancing, kick boxing and Latin dancing to burn calories and shed pounds while toning your core.
