A green drink usually refers to a drink made of powdered or blended vegetables. These drinks are consumed for nutritional purposes and have become popular after Dr. Mehmet Oz appeared on Oprah Winfrey's talk show and demonstrated how to make his own green drink recipe. Dr. Oz's green drink recipe is made from blended fresh vegetables, but instant green drink powders are available at health food stores and vitamin stores.
Step 1
Chop the spinach, ginger, cucumber, celery, apples and parsley into 1/2-inch pieces on a cutting board. Organic vegetables will provide the most nutrition, but are not required. Ginger root is available in the herbs section of your local grocery store.
Step 2
Dump the chopped spinach, ginger, cucumber, celery, apples and parsley into the blender.
Step 3
Squeeze half a lemon and one lime into the blender with a strainer. Remove all seeds and pulp from the strainer and discard. If a strainer is not available, squeeze the lemon and lime through your palm to remove the seeds.
Step 4
Blend all ingredients in the blender for two to three minutes until completely smooth. The finished drink should have the consistency of a thin milkshake and be dark green in color.
Step 5
Pour the mixture into a glass, then freeze or refrigerate the leftovers.
Tips and Warnings
- Refrigerate your green drink before serving, if desired. Add your own in-season fruit and vegetables to the drink.
- Place the lid on the blender before turning it on.
