The Bowflex Revolution is a home gym suitable for use in a variety of exercises. The product consists of several ropes wrapped around a spool installed inside of the device's base unit. Pulling on handles attached to the end of the rope will turn the spool, while weights installed on the spool's axle provide resistance. Occasionally, the ropes may slip from the Revolution's spool and become tangled inside of the base unit, requiring repair. The device's cam assembly may also wear out over time, necessitating the installation of a replacement component.
First Steps
Step 1
Remove the bolts securing the top cover to the base unit. Detach the top cover and inspect the interior of the base unit; detach the shroud clip, if installed.
Step 2
Remove the screw installed in the cap for the tension adjustment knob, then remove the cap. Remove the screws securing the knob in place. Pull the knob free and set it aside.
Step 3
Remove the screws securing the shroud to the left side of the machine. Pull the shroud off the machine and set it aside.
Tangled Rope
Step 1
Remove the bolt securing the lower spool to the machine's axle. Pull the spool free of the axle and unwind the attached strap. Loop the end of the strap around one of the supports on the base of the machine.
Step 2
Pull the large pulley off of the axle. Hold the pulley with one hand while untangling the rope with the other. Wind the rope back onto the pulley. Fit the pulley back onto the axle.
Step 3
Pull the lower spool's strap free of the support. Wind the strap counterclockwise onto the spool. Fit the spool back onto the axle and use the previously-removed bolt to secure it back into place. Reinstall the left shroud, tension adjustment knob, knob cap, shroud clip and top cover.
Cam Assembly Replacement
Step 1
Loosen the bolts installed on the upper panel of the tension shaft holder. Pull the tension shaft out the right side of the machine until it comes free of the cam assembly. Remove the bolts securing the pre-tension pack to the cam assembly; remove the pack and set it aside.
Step 2
Pry off the collar installed in the center of the cam assembly. Pull the cam free of the machine's axle. Remove the bolt securing the lower spool to the machine's axle. Pull the spool free of the axle and unwind the attached strap.
Step 3
Remove the old cam assembly and install the new assembly in its place. Wind the lower spool's strap counterclockwise onto the spool. Fit the spool back onto the axle and use the previously-removed bolt to secure it back into place. Reinstall the lock collar and pre-tension pack.
Step 4
Slide the tension shaft back through the center of the cam assembly. Tighten the bolts installed on the upper panel of the tension shaft holder. Reinstall the left shroud, tension adjustment knob, knob cap, shroud clip and top cover.
