Different skin types require different care. While you can purchase facial products at the drugstore or have one done at your favorite spa, when you are low on funds and time, items from your kitchen can suffice. Whether you have oily, dry or dull skin, your refrigerator and pantry could hold ingredients to make luxurious homemade facial masks to help your skin problems. Various scrubs, facials and masks can be applied to help you see a significant improvement in your skin.
Dry Skin
Step 1
Mix a half cup of natural yogurt, 1 tbsp. of honey and one quarter of a ripe banana if you suffer from dry skin, suggests FatFreeKitchen.com.
Step 2
Blend until you reach a creamy consistency and spread the mixture on your face, taking care to avoid your eyes.
Step 3
Lie back and relax for 10 minutes, and then rinse your face with cool water and pat dry with a towel. Discard the remaining facial mixture.
Dull Skin
Step 1
Mix together a quarter cup brown sugar with a quarter cup white sugar. Add a half tsp. each of ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Stream in enough oil to wet all ingredients for a smooth consistency, suggests Sara Wells of OurBestBites.com.
Step 2
Starting with just-washed skin, rub the scrub into your face in a circular motion. This mask works well for skin that feels dull, as it sloughs away dead skin and remaining dirt and oil to allow better cell turnover and the reveal of younger skin. You can also use the scrub anywhere on your body that seems dry and dull. Rinse with cool water after one or two minutes, depending on the severity of your dull skin.
Step 3
Store any remaining facial mixture in an air tight container in your refrigerator.
Oily Skin
Step 1
Combine an egg yolk with 1 tbsp. honey, 1 tbsp olive oil and a half cup of dry, natural oatmeal if you suffer from oily skin, suggests "Marie Claire" magazine. Egg can help tighten your skin while olive oil helps to restore the natural moisture balance to stop the overproduction of oil.
Step 2
Mix to combine until you reach a smooth consistency. Apply the facial to your skin and leave for 15 to 20 minutes while you wait and relax.
Step 3
Rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry with a towel, and then apply an oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer. Discard the remaining facial mixture.
