The NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro is part of the company's “Freestrider” line of elliptical machines. The device consists of a pair of pedals installed within a base unit and two swing arms mounted on either side of a vertical upright. A control unit attached to the upright provides feedback during each workout. Other features include an adjustable stride setting, a magnetic resistance system, 20 preset workout programs, a built-in heart rate monitor and a commercial-grade steel frame.

Step 1

Remove the screws that secure the shipping brackets to the bottom of the elliptical's base unit. Remove the shipping brackets and set them aside. Screw the leveling feet into the holes left by the shipping bracket screws.

Step 2

Slide the frame cover over the tube that protrudes upward from the frame. Push down on the frame cover until it slides into place. Lift the upright assembly over the frame tube. Connect the wires protruding from the upright to those protruding from the frame tube. Slide the end of the upright into the frame tube, then bolt the two pieces together.

Step 3

Fit the left and right upright covers over the axle protruding from the sides of the upright. Screw the covers onto the frame, then clip the undersides of the two covers together. Smear a layer of machine grease over the surface of the upright axle. Fit the left and right handlebars over the ends of the upright axle. Use screws to secure the handlebars to the axle.

Step 4

Position the left and right pedals over the platforms on the end of each pedal arm. Use screws to secure a pedal to each platform. Smear a layer of machine grease over the surface of the small axles on the end of each pedal arm. Slide the axles into the brackets attached to the bottom of each handlebar leg. Use screws, washers and pedal arm covers to secure the pedal arms to the handlebar legs.

Step 5

Smear a layer of machine grease over the surface of the axles attached to the pedal arm brackets. Slide the open ends of the pedal legs onto the axles. Use screws to secure the pedal legs to the pedal arm brackets.

Step 6

Position the console unit over the top of the upright. Connect the wires protruding from the console unit to those protruding from the top of the upright, then feed the excess wire into the upright assembly. Use screws to secure the console unit to the upright assembly.

Step 7

Slide the handrail covers onto the handrails. Fit the upper end of each handrail onto the mounts attached on each side of the upright assembly. Use screws to secure the upper end of each handrail to upright and the lower end to the base unit. Push the handrail covers into the base unit. Use screws to secure the left and right handlebars to the upright assembly. Connect the power adapter.
