How to Lose Weight Quickly & Healthily

It can be easy to lose weight by taking dangerous diet pills, which can not only hurt the body but also cause whatever weight was lost to be regained once the pills are stopped. To really lose weight quickly yet healthfully, it is necessary to follow a few steps that will get the body moving, feed the body properly and hydrate sufficiently.

Step 1

Exercise for at least 30 minutes, three times per week to burn off excess calories. A good exercise plan will include aerobic, or cardiovascular, exercise and a strength-training workout. Strength training will build up more lean muscle mass, which burns more calories than fat does. The more lean muscle mass the body has, the more quickly the body will lose weight with the same amount of effort. Strength training should include all of the major muscle groups, such as the legs, arms, back and abdominal muscles. Any gymnasium or workout center will have a physical trainer to help you become knowledgeable about the many kinds of strength-training exercises available. Aerobic exercises include walking, running, bicycling or using workout machines such as a stair stepper. Make sure to wear exercise clothing and running or walking shoes that will cushion the feet properly.

Step 2

Eat a diet that is at least 80 percent raw. Most people consume most of their daily calories from packaged foods that are high in sugar, fat and salt. These unhealthy foods usually contain little or no nutrients and cause the consumer to want to eat more and more of the food, leading to weight gain and obesity. Try to eat as much of your diet raw as possible, and include a wide variety of vegetables, nuts, seeds and fruits. Make the other 20 percent consist of lean protein sources, such as chicken breast or white fish.

Step 3

Keep the body hydrated throughout the day by carrying a water bottle everywhere you go. Most people are dehydrated and do not realize it. Dehydration can cause the metabolism to slow down, which can make it harder to lose weight. By keeping the body hydrated properly, the metabolism will increase, making weight loss faster and helping the body function at optimum levels. Drink at least 64 ounces of pure water every day. Avoid fluids that contain high levels of caffeine, like soda, tea or coffee, which can act as a diuretic and actually decrease the body's water supply.
