Bacteria are microscopic one-celled organisms that can be harmful or beneficial. Harmful bacteria, if the levels are too high, often cause health disorders and need to be removed from the body. Health disorders that are caused by harmful bacteria include strep throat, tuberculosis, urinary tract infections and sinus infections, among others, according to the Mayo Clinic. Coriander
Coriander, also known as cilantro, is an anti-bacterial spice that prevents infection in wounds and digestive disorders including indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea and colic in infants. To prevent wound infections, sprinkle ground coriander seed on minor scrapes after washing the affected area thoroughly, according to the Epicentre. Infants with colic can consume a warm, weak coriander tea made with 1/2 tsp. coriander steeped in 8 oz. of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is the inner bark of a tropical evergreen tree with anti-bacterial properties utilized by ancient cultures. For example, the Egyptians used cinnamon in their embalming practices to stave off bacterial decomposition, according to the Epicentre. Cinnamon can be used to treat a variety of bacteria-based health disorders, including mouth bacteria and digestive disorders. Prepare a tea or a gargle using 1 tsp. of cinnamon in 8 oz. of boiling water steeped for 10 to 15 minutes; allow it to cool and consume or gargle twice per day.
